One of The Flock
Aphrodite is a freshman entering a strange new world known as Paramount High and she's nervous. She knows being a loser in high school is even worse than being one in grade school. That's not her only issue though; her mom is crazy, her best friend is a boy, and she’s painfully crushing on someone she could never have.
Really, crazy does not even come close when defining Aphrodite’s mom. She’s more like certifiably insane. Living with her is like being subjected to the worst humiliation ever. Unfortunately, you don’t get to pick your parents because if given the choice, Aphro would gladly take someone else. Anyone else.
Danny and Aphrodite have been inseparable since the second grade. Their common never-ending dork status and love of baseball has kept them together through the years. But when high school begins Aphro can’t help but feel like there might be more out there besides their geekish bond.
Looking at Jeremy is like looking directly into the sun; painfully bright and oh so hot. But he doesn’t even know Ahpro exists. Even if he did, no one from Aphro’s side of the cafeteria would have a chance with someone as perfect as him. It may be worth a try though. What’s the worst that could happen?
Whitney is gorgeous, a living Barbie in Gucci heels. She's the leader of The Flock, a popular crowd that rules Paramount High. So when Aphrodite finds a way to befriend Whitney, she takes it, even if it means losing those most important to her, and a bit of herself in the process.
Aphrodite's sarcastic outlook on life and those around her makes for a laugh out loud read. She's a relatable character who undergoes a transformation anyone who has ever attended high school can identify with.
