Who AM I?
I'm an author.
There I said it. It's hard to commit to that self-proclamation, when I know it's not in terms of societies expecations of the word. When you think AUTHOR, you see best- selling names like STEPHEN KING and DANIELLE STEEL (whom I was named after BTW) or JAMES PATTERSON and JOHN GRISHAM. This is sadly not the case for me. I have never sold one book, let alone millions of copies, but I do write. Isn't that what an author is?
I use the description author very loosely though. Have I been published? Well I guess it depends on your definition. I've had my piece "My Dearest Friend" featured in an edition of Ball States University's Literary magazine Embodied Effigies. That same sad little piece of non-fiction from my past, also won the third place award at The North Wildwood Beach Writers Conference in 2014.
I also hosted a parenting blog for a short period of time, titled
Raising the Future with my local newspaper, and I am currently working on my second novel, Title Unknown, due to a horrible bout of indecisiveness.
But my real claim to fame? Mother and Wife Extraordinaire.
My actual time, when I'm not stealing moments writing haphazard non-sense on scraps of paper, is spent being a chauffeur, screaming my head off at hockey games, and cuddling on the couch with the cutest dude on the planet. So author? meh, maybe. Happy and Lucky to live the life I do? YES!!!!

(Oh and I also have a real job running a gorgeous little bed and breakfast in
Cape May, New Jersey. Check it out @ www.petershieldsinn.com.)
